I marvel at the spectrum of colors I run into everyday in nature, from the ever changing hues in the sky, from a young day in the morning to a late noon weather conditioned evening, the golden rich autumn colors on tree leaves, the brilliant and intricate color patterns on tropical flowers and fishes and the crystal blue serene color of the ocean in the Bahamas or the Mediterranean.
When I come across a scenery that moves me, I always say to myself . . ." I want to paint that. . "
I take photographs and do a lot of sketches and watercolor studies on location to capture the essence of the moment . When I finally get down to painting with oils in my studio, I throw in more colors that is deemed necessary . .
